What Should I Be Doing During My Home-Tour?

A home-tour takes place when a prospective buyer tours a property or home that is for sale to decide whether or not they want to make a purchase. Large transactions such as buying a house often requires the buyer to examine the property closely. As a buyer, you can tour homes independently or with an agent, and touring with an agent definitely has benefits!

Regardless of if you are participating in your first home-tour, or your 8th home-tour, sometimes you may feel uncomfortable or unsure how a home-tour is meant to go.

There is no definite answer and the important thing is that you are the customer. You will have the final decision - are going to buy the home or not?

Some people want to have a look around themselves and not have the agent follow them. If that is the case then feel no pressure to say that before you begin. However, keep in mind that your agent has experience and practice in understanding many of the nuances of buying a home. From negotiating, to determining the pros and cons of buying a home based on the market, an agent can often prevent you from wasting any valuable time.

At the end of the tour if you have any question then ASK! You don't want to come away from the tour not feeling like you got a good enough understanding of the property so ASK, ASK and ASK AGAIN if you need.

At the end of the tour the agent may ask you how you felt about the property. You should feel free to explain your thoughts or just say you need to think about it. Don't feel any pressure to give an immediate answer on what you think of the house. Buying a home is a big decision and nobody is expecting an immediate purchase.

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible in these tours so feel free to reach out and ask us any questions about properties, or how you think the tour should go.
